 Bruscetta

There are many types of bruscetta, a form of antipasti from the Southern italian region. Bruscetta mainly involves special roasted or hard bread. This type calls for Tuscan bread, a kind of unsalted bread which originated in Tuscania, Italy.

Ingredients

  • Tuscan bread
  • Tomatoes or tomato sauce
  • Garlic
  • Oregano
  • Basil
  • Black Pepper
  • Oil
  • Salt

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  • Slice out a few one centimeter thick slices from the Tuscan bread
  • Put the Tuscan slices in the oven, until they become golden
  • Slice tomatoes roughly one centimeter thick, slice into cubes
  • Take the bread slices from the oven and rub them with garlic
  • Lay the tomato on a thin layer of tomato sauce on the upper side of the bread
  • Add oil, oregano, salt, black pepper, and two or three leaves of basil
  • Serve hot
