Sports
The boston restaurants of the north end are not the only businesses strong
enough to overcome the impossible. The handful of Boston sporting teams that have succeeded in
winning hundreds of awards - such as the Boston Red Sox, who have been among the top five rated
baseball teams in the American League for 78 out of 104 years of play - as well as dozens of
amazing individuals, have made Boston, Massachusetts famous for the toughest, hardest playing
sportsmen in America, from turn of the (previous) century Irish fighter John Sullivan to
basket-ballers Larry Byrd and Karl Malone.
Boston Red Sox
Last year the Boston Red Sox broke yet another record, becoming the first team in MLB history to
come back in the seventh game to win the world series. More outstanding performances are expected
for 2006. The official season always begins on the first weekend of April.
Boston Bruins
Though the Boston Bruins have not won a Stanley Cup since Watergate, they have won five Cups in
their eighty season history, and have been home to some of the greatest players in the game.

look forward to the new season.
